Thank you to everyone for all their support for our Annual Fancy Dress Sponsored Ride. We have all had a fantastic time and it was brilliant being out in Richmond Park in this beautiful Autumn sunshine. Thank you as well to everyone who has donated.
We have raised over £15,000 over the two days, with last minute sponsorship still coming in during todays ride! That is an outstanding amount of money which the Royal Marsden will be overjoyed with.
Every year we say the Fancy Dress can’t possibly get any better, but it does! We really saw a huge effort from all our riders, and even from some of the horses getting involved! We were lucky this year to have Judge John on hand for the judging of the fancy dress competition. We were judged fairly but harshly it seemed, learning that John had judged on several different criteria, including, teamwork, attention to detail, inclusive use of the horse and humour. We had lots of different entries, to name a few, a red indian, a fuschia fairy, a crayon, a bride (and her loving husband who ran the entire route), Little Red Riding Hood and the Grandma/wolf and a Medieval Knight on horseback to keep everyone in check! Tuesdays ride saw equal effort in the dressing up and we were visited by some real characters, Cruella de Vil, Rey from Star Wars, Fred Flintstone and Ginger Spice to name but a few.
Our 1st place fancy dress riders were Helen on Honey as a Highway Woman and Katie on Hudson on safari, which they really were when they had a moment in the bushes when they went in search of a nearby Stag!
Thank you to all of our supporters and the ‘on foot’ team who were on hand both at the stables and in Richmond Park with refreshments for all the thirsty riders.
A big thank you to everyone for putting in so much effort and really making both days so enjoyable. We love to see our brightly decorated horses really enjoying themselves out on the Common and even Fudge managed to join in for the Fancy Dress parades on the High Street.
We are looking forward to next year already! The fundraising pages are still open if you would like to make a donation via Justgiving
